Yes, autumn isn’t SO bad…cooler nights, windier days, and more leaves…but it does make you yearn for more summer. You would be crazy to not ride outdoors during the fall! As one well respected club vice president once told me when I first joined: “If it’s not snowing and if it’s above 32 degrees (0 degrees Celsius), we’ll be on the road” But unforeseen circumstances do arise that force you to ride indoors on your trusty trainer.

This time around, they’re charging him and five others with a laundry list of offenses that date back to 1998. Call it a witch-hunt if you so please but the outcome of the USADA investigation will unlikely change the public’s current views of Lance Armstrong. Bicycling Magazine features the recent allegations against Armstrong in their upcoming October issue. Interesting reads..

Continue reading »]]> We as road cyclists / avid triathletes have this fantasy to go mountain biking. It is an easy thing to say: “oh I’ll just grab my mountain bike and head out to the trails to jump some rocks and speed 25-30mph down muddy paths”. Hard to make a reality when most collegiate riders can only afford, at most, one bike. That is why we envied our captain, Rob Abramo, this past season since he frequently hit the trails on his mountain bike during the Fall.

The exhilaration of flying down a dirt path no wider than a couple feet, hands gripped tight over the handle bars with your fingers ready at the breaks, your body’s out of the saddle, knees ready to brace any blemish on the trail…it is the pure adrenaline pumping through your veins that makes this sport exciting – not only to compete in but to watch as well.

Jaroslav Kulhavy’s epic finish to win gold was spectacular. What was even more mind blowing was Fontana’s third place finish…he lost his seat post during the last lap and still pulled out a bronze medal. But hey, its the Olympics and amazing things happen.
